The one where the blog makes a comeback

Posted on July 5, 2022July 6, 2022 by Terver

My last diary entry was 10 months ago. In that time, I have changed postcodes, become a plant mum, read a ton of African fiction, invented many different grilled chicken recipes, lived with my best friend of 12 years and amassed an impressive collection of white collared shirts. But the most important thing is that I have spent plenty of time with me.

It’s not always been a good time. Like any real couple, we bicker and argue. But then there are moments where I and me are perfectly in sync; both of us highly productive members of Team Terv – particularly agreeing that our preferred pronouns are “we,” “us,” and “ya’ll.”

We have also had plenty of practice at internal communication. Dialoguing. Debating. Our favorite subjects?: a communications campaign that left us less informed than before; an advert with a great storyline but missing a call to action, a new product in the market solving a problem that simply does not exist and my all time favorite– an influencer promoting a brand that they would rather get back with a toxic ex than use themselves.

It was all going great until a stranger caught me talking out loud to I. She pretended not to be looking at us, but I caught her shaking her head in disapproval.

“So this is what it’s come to?” – I quarreled with me.

All this to say, impolite conversations are back!  It’s me, I and you now.
